 | Music and brain | |
Scientists and musicians will explore the surprising links between music and the brain at an international conference next week in Jerusalem. From February 10-13, participants will mix cutting-edge science with a variety of musical concerts illuminating the topics.
The conference, Music and Brains: The Surprising Link — An Interface between Music, Cognition and Neuroscience, is presented by the Interdisciplinary Center for Neural Computation (ICNC) at the Hebrew University’s Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Science.
Journalists are invited to attend the events at Mishkenot Sha’ananim in Jerusalem, or to schedule interviews with leaders in the field from research institutions abroad and the Hebrew University.
Events are open to the public but have reached capacity; registration on wait lists is required at http://bit.ly/11s5SFJ.
Researchers will present topics such as music and language, and the effects of music on thought processes and behavior. Musical performances will include works by Bach, Brahms, Chopin, Mahler, Schubert and others. A section on Arabic music will include performers on oud, qanun, riq and violin.
Event info, program and brochure are available at http://elsc.huji.ac.il/content/music-and-brains.
