Research Abstract:
During the Japanese rule in Manchuria, music education was conducted
by school songbooks published for this purpose. These were different
from those in use in Japan in terms of melodies, texts and content.
These differences will be examined by a description of song texts and
by a musical analysis of the melodies. Since school songs in Japan
reflected official political ideologies, an analysis will be made as
to what extent ideology figures in the Manchurian songs.
