New program will include lab work related to dental medicine

The Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is launching a new international master’s program this year, Bio-Medical Sciences in Dental Medicine. The program will be taught in English and is offered in cooperation with the Hebrew University's Rothberg International School.

The two-year program is open to physicians, dentists and students holding a B.Sc. degree in fields such as biology, immunology and pharmacy. Students will attend courses and conduct research in the department’s laboratories in fields related to dental science, including microbiology, stem cells, and computerized genetic and biological engineering.

In addition to their academic activities, students will be exposed to Israeli society and culture through their participation in social activities.

The program's director, Prof. Doron Steinberg from the Faculty of Dental Medicine, said, ''As the Hebrew University has accelerated its integration into the global village in recent years, there is a trend toward opening programs for foreign students. The international master’s program at the Faculty of Dental Medicine Program will further this trend. The Faculty of Dental Medicine is working collaboratively with its counterparts at several universities worldwide, and the new program will be an excellent opportunity to expand and strengthen those relationships, promote the Faculty's international standing, and of course widen the circle of students who engage in the vast research activities conducted here.''

He added, ''Foreign students will study alongside Israeli students and thus we will create a challenging academic, cultural and intellectual environment. I have no doubt that graduates of the program will serve as a bridge for international academic cooperation in the future.''

Classes will take place at the Ein Kerem medical campus of the Hebrew University and Hadassah which is located in the western mountains of Jerusalem overlooking the historical village of Ein Kerem.

The application deadline for Spring 2013 is December 31, 2012. For the 2013-2014 academic year, the application deadline is August 30, 2013.
