Prof. Dan Shechtman, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry for 2011, will be hosted at the Faculty of Science of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Prof. Shechtman will discuss ''The Discovery of Quasi-Periodic Crystals,'' for which he received the prestigious Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2011.

According to the Nobel Committee at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, despite early skepticism from the science community, Shechtman’s work ''eventually forced scientists to reconsider their conception of the very nature of matter.''

The event will take place on Tuesday, January 31 at 3 p.m. in the Wise Auditorium, Edmond J. Safra campus.
